Crab salad dip

Fresh crab meat is a delicious white meat, which is perfect for making a killer salad. This is a really quick and easy recipe, and most importantly it’s very tasty.

You need about 16oz of fresh flaked crab meat, put the crab meat in a bowl, while you prepare the other ingredients. Finely chop approx. half a large pepper, I use red but green is fine too, and add to the crab meat. Next, finely chop approx. half a celery stick and add to the crab meat and pepper. Pour enough mayonnaise into the bowl to cover the crab meat, pepper and celery and mix well. Now all you need to do is add lemon juice, salt and pepper to taste.

Place some salad greens, I used lambs lettuce, endive and radicchio, in a small bowl and place the crab salad dip on top. Chill in the refrigerator for an hour or so before eating.

If you want to play around with the dip, as I did, you can make your own variation of crab sticks by placing some of the dip along the centre of a celery stick. These make very tasty snacks.

You could also make some crab rolls, by placing a spoonful of the dip onto a lettuce leaf and rolling it up. It’s best to use a butterhead lettuce for this, the type with the loose leaves.

The dip, sticks and rolls are ideal for party food, appetizers or snacks. the dip will keep in the fridge for a couple of days as will the crab sticks, but the rolls need to be eaten the same day as the lettuce will go soggy overnight in the fridge.

I added some small cheese biscuits to use in the dip, but bread sticks or celery sticks are good too, or whatever you fancy using to dip :)

Enjoy!

Bluhooody gorgeous!!

Let’s say you’re not really all that fond of celery…. any alternatives?

The celery isn’t overpowering, but why don’t you try some chopped Avocado, I haven’t tried it myself in this particular recipe but I think it would be very nice.
