Twisted oil tip (only for the brave and patient)

I know, I know, there is no oil like extra vergine olive oil. Well duh. Some people just don’t like olive oil. Others have a weak stomach that can’t deal with olive oil. Some even think that olive oil has been done to death…

Of course you can buy fancy oils like walnut and sesame. By all means, do so. But what’s also quite nice is aged sunflower oil. Just regular sunflower oil that’s been kept for a considerable time, preferably in a clear glass jug in mild sunlight.

Sure, there’s risk involved. There’s always a chance that the oil will turn bad. But if it doesn’t, then it will develop an earthy, nutty flavour that goes well with lots of salads.

Warning: always sample your precipitated oil first, before you cover your salad with it. You never know.

PS: you can also age olive oil, or make a mix. I’ve got a mixed bottle that has been standing for years, and it’s very special. Just try it. Invest in the future :)
